About Base Camp Festival

People are often at the heart of many of our best outdoor experiences, whether it’s making a connection with a porter while trekking in Nepal, new friends made during an overnight stay in a bothy, or long-term friendships forged through climbing or walking trips – and this is core to the Base Camp Festival ethos.

Combining outdoor activities and workshops during the day, and talks and live music during the evenings, Base Camp Festival is a celebration of the outdoors and the people we meet while pursuing our activities there. The festival aims to be the friendliest event around, with inclusivity the single most important consideration of the organisers.

Founder Belinda Kirk

Founded by adventurer, author and speaker Belinda Kirk, Base Camp Festival ran for five years before being put on hiatus during the Covid 19 pandemic, but now returns with a bang under the new ownership of Amanda Travis and Chris Kempster, publishers of Trek & Mountain magazine.

Amanda and Chris aim to retain the community vibe of the original events, while expanding the range of activities and attractions available, thus creating the best possible experience for festival goers. And with some of the leading outdoor brands supporting and contributing to the event in 2025, we have access to another level of experience and expertise that will only enhance the festival.

So whether you are a veteran of previous Base Camp Festivals or are new to the event, come and join us for what we hope will be a truly special weekend for everyone who attends!
